A rare commodity comes to Kiawah
RiverView townhomes on Kiawah Island

Luxury townhomes to debut in Kiawah’s RiverView neighborhood

Kiawah abounds in the most delightful residential properties. Stunning single-family homes? Check. Airy, sun-filled villas close to the beach? Check. New-construction, luxury townhomes? Well… not so much, until now.

Perfect for the homebuyer who wants the feeling and space of a luxury home without the maintenance, townhomes can offer a true “lock it and leave it” experience. And the new RiverView townhomes, some with multi-level views of the Kiawah River, will feel even more like single-family luxury homes than usual.

Each townhome will be only partially attached to its neighbor on the first-floor living level, nestled in a lush landscape designed by John Tarkany Associates in this highly walkable, gated neighborhood. A private neighborhood dock, kayak launch, gathering pavilion, and saltwater pool are just a stroll away down a brick path.

And the nearby walking and bike trail makes a quick dash to nearby Freshfields Village, the beach, or the rest of Kiawah Island a cinch.

Carefree living on the Kiawah River

Three townhome plans, with five elevations, will offer spacious living areas filled with natural light, first- or second-floor master suites, three bedrooms, hardwood floors, gourmet kitchens, metal roofs, covered porches, and optional three-stop elevators. Floor plans for the three townhomes can be previewed online here.

Residents will enter private, two-car garages via a rear alleyway.

Fifteen townhomes will be built in total, starting at under $1.1 million. The townhomes will range in size from 2,100 to 2,500 heated square feet.

Contact your Kiawah Island Real Estate sales executive for more information, including limited-time homebuyer incentives, and to arrange a personal tour. RiverView is located at Kiawah Island Parkway and Beachwalker Drive, just outside the main gate.

Top landscape trends come to Kiawah’s eastern edge

Many elements on the 2016 ASLA list of top landscape trends are integrated in Marsh Walk’s design

As part of the 2016 Residential Landscape Architecture Trends Survey, last month the American Society of Landscape Architects asked landscape designers to rate the expected popularity of outdoor design elements for 2016.

Sustainable design was the winner, with low-maintenance plants and low water costs also in high demand.

The top landscape elements with the highest expected demand include:

  • Native plants (86%)
  • Low-maintenance landscapes (85%)
  • Food and/or vegetable gardens (75%)
  • Rain gardens (73%)
  • Landscaping/gardening that reduces the need for irrigation water (68%)
  • Organic gardens (64%)
  • Plant walls/vertical gardens (61%)
  • Rooftop gardens (55%)
  • Water elements such as fountains, waterfalls, grottos (46%)
  • Ponds and/or streams (29%)
Cassique Clubhouse Village is set to give homebuyers the royal treatment

A new “royal” home plan joins the highly livable options at Cassique Clubhouse Village

Cassique Clubhouse Village is already known for its prime location. Just down a lush walkway from the Cassique clubhouse with its world-class golf and Tom Colicchio-inspired cuisine, the neighborhood’s homes are elevated to take advantage of marsh and creek views.

A better-kept secret is the livability of the homes.

Every Cassique Clubhouse Village home was designed by renowned Kiawah architects to be highly usable and livable from the inside out, notes Amanda Mole, director of architecture for Kiawah Partners. “Just as an example, the Muirfield has a loggia on the ground floor rather than simple storage space,” she says. “Residents can wander the pathway to the clubhouse for an event or a shared meal.”

The neighborhood is also close to Freshfields Village, an appreciated convenience with its shops, eateries, medical offices, and services.

All Cassique Clubhouse Village homes will feature coastal architecture paired with an English Arts and Crafts sensibility, in keeping with the manor-inspired Cassique Clubhouse… as does a new home plan.

Tiebreak Fix for 16.2 and 16.3

CrossFit is correcting 16.2 and 16.3 scores whose tiebreak times were entered incorrectly.

Those who didn’t enter a tiebreak or entered 00:00 as a tiebreak will be given a tiebreak time equal to the duration of the workout (20:00 for 16.2 and 7:00 for 16.3).

Inappropriately entered tiebreak times will not affect rankings for those athletes who scored fewer than 75 reps for 16.2 or less than one round of 16.3.

Make sure to watch the standards video and read the guidelines before starting each Open Workout. There are also scorecards provided on the Open Workout Description page that will help you complete and record the workout as expected.
