2016 Team Series Score Adjustments

CrossFit has adjusted a handful of Team Series scores during the review process of video submissions. Most notably, Scott Panchik’s 350-lb. hang power clean in Event 4 was disallowed because he received the bar below parallel. For a successful hang power clean, athletes had to ensure the crease of the hip did not pass below the top of the knee in the bottom position.

The Airrosti- CrossFit BelRed team received a 2:30 penalty in Event 2 because team members performed multiple repetitions of lateral box jump overs in violation of the movement standards, which state lateral jumps are not allowed.

Teams may have their workouts judged and validated at a CrossFit affiliate, or they may submit videos to be judged and validated by CrossFit.

Score adjustments will be reflected on the overall leaderboard at teamseries.crossfit.com.

Jones, Kemp and Marino Sanctioned

Two masters athletes and a team competitor have violated CrossFit’s drug-testing policy.

  • Scott Jones, the third-place finisher in the 2016 Masters Men 45-49 Division, tested positive for the anti-estrogen anastrozole. Jones will be suspended from competing in any CrossFit-sanctioned event for two years as of Aug. 15, 2016, and his results from the Games will be invalidated. Robert Davis will move up from fourth place to claim the third-place prize.
  • Penny Kemp, a member of team CrossFit Melbourne (33rd overall), tested positive for the anti-estrogen clomiphene. Kemp will be suspended from competing in CrossFit-sanctioned events for a period of one year as of Aug. 16, 2016. CrossFit Melbourne will have their results on the 2016 CrossFit Games Leaderboard invalidated.
  • CrossFit will also amend the final standings for the 2015 Reebok CrossFit Games Masters Men 55-59 Division. Steve Marino, who finished second, has been disqualified from this competition and penalized with a two-year ban for providing a sample that indicated he used an anabolic agent. Mike Heikens will move from third to second place, and David Gantz will move from fourth to third.

In addition to collecting samples at competitions, CrossFit tests year-round for performance-enhancing drugs. Learn about CrossFit’s Drug Testing Program.
